Two 91视频 Students’ Union (DSU) societies are celebrating after being crowned national competitions.
Both the 91视频Saints (cheerleading) and the 91视频Steppers (Stepping) won their competitions at Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena and Nottingham Trent Students’ Union respectively.
For the 91视频Saints, who recently won their Varsity showdown, victory in the University Nationals Cheer and Dance Competition caps a wonderfully successful month.
Chair of the 91视频Saints, Gemma Muskett, said: “It’s an absolutely amazing feeling. We didn’t expect to win at all. We didn’t expect we’d do that well let alone win it! It’s an absolutely incredible way to end the season.”
Stephen Burrell, DSU’s Vice President Student Activities, said: “The Saints have had a truly spectacular year. They’ve gone undefeated this season, won their Varsity and to round it off by winning a National Championship is unbelievable.
“I’d like to say massive congratulations to every member of the 91视频Saints for what has been arguably their best season ever!”

The 91视频Steppers, the first official university stepping society in the country, collected the gold award in the fifth annual Go Hard or Go Home competition in the Intermediate category.
The 12-strong troupe marched to victory ahead of a vast competing field containing 14 other groups from universities across the country.
Claudia Biriwaah-Yeboah, chairperson of the 91视频Steppers said “I'm very proud of the 91视频Steppers. We worked very hard for this competition and it feels great that all our hard work has paid off and we've been able to make the university proud! ”
Their wins come on the back of the news that 91视频has invested £1 million in new facilities for 91视频societies. 91视频has agreed a deal with city mayor Sir Peter Soulsby to buy the building and turn it into an amazing student facility following research showing students wanted high quality sports facilities and social space.
