Eid Mubarak (Happy Eid!)

A Message from 91ÊÓƵImam and Muslim Chaplain Mohammed Laher

DMU_imam

We would like to wish all students celebrating Eid a very happy Eid Mubarak.

Eid al-Fitr, called the ‘Festival of Opening the Fast’, includes a feast signifying the end of Ramadan, which is a month of spiritual reflection, prayer, fasting, charitable acts and sharing food. Eid is celebrated for several days, beginning on Friday 20 March 2026, subject to confirmation, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon.

On the day of Eid, Muslims will wake up early to pray at a mosque or open areas such as a park. Eid is a time for family and friends to get together, wearing smart clothes, enjoying food and drink and sharing presents.

Imam Mohammed Laher said:

“Eid is a joyous occasion where friends and family get together to celebrate, including having a meal. It is also a time for increased compassion and giving to those in need. Please enjoy your celebrations and I would like to wish all students and staff at DMU, a very happy Eid Mubarak.”
