LGBT activism and representation

LGBT activism on campus plays an important role in the student educational experience: it both protects from discrimination by offering safe spaces to meet each one other and enables to fight against it by politicising sexuality and gender identity issues.

In February 2015 91ÊÓƵcelebrated LGBT history month. The #DMUpride Festival was launched in the Students’ Union building and more than 20 events were staged throughout the month to campaign for and celebrate the LGBT community at 91ÊÓƵand across the city. 91ÊÓƵalso proudly to flew the rainbow flag on campus for LGBT History Month during February.

91ÊÓƵLGBT Staff Network and Committee

91ÊÓƵhas an active LGBT Staff Network and organises and takes part in events for LGBT History Month, IDAHO (International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia) and 91ÊÓƵPride. All of DMU’s LGBT staff are more than welcome to join any of the meetings held throughout the year.
